The Centenary Elephant

Hunting trophy bull elephant… as told from the perspective of the hunter's rifle! It's not just any rifle, it's "The Old Girl," a .500 Nitro Express made by William Evans of London in 1919. She's 100 years old in 2019 when this exciting and epic video was made with PH Buzz Charlton and The Old Girl's current custodian, Cameron Hopkins of Enough Gun Productions.

If you're into double rifles, you'll love this in-depth look at a side-by-side made during the Golden Era of London gunmaking, right after World War I up through 1930. And, best of all, you'll see "The Old Girl" successfully take a Zambezi Valley bull. The video is shot on location in the Nykasanga Safari Area of the Zambezi Valley, bordering Mana Pools National Park. Buzz and Cameron were hoping a "park bull" might cross over into their hunting area, and indeed several do, including a nice 50 pounder that Cameron turned down, over the strenuous objections of PH Buzz Charlton. But luck favors the bold, and an even bigger bull finally fell to "The Old Girl."
